“[As a teacher, I enjoy] the feeling of being helpful. Altruism is one of those core human values, and it’s really important to find a way to share your gifts with other people. I really like teaching because I get to share one of the things that I think is most interesting, which is my knowledge of Latin, with other people. It’s very helpful — it’s literally the most valuable thing I know. The fact that I get to share with other people and make them better human beings, more functional in their environments and better able to enjoy the complexity of their lives is very rewarding,” Latin teacher John Conant said.
