Starting off as miles of undeveloped land, the city of Irvine was developed into a master-planned city by the Irvine Company throughout the 1960s, and formally incorporated on Dec. 28, 1971
Since its incorporation as a city in 1971, Irvine has undergone many changes. Known today for its safe environment, rich urban life, and diverse population, it has much to offer to both residents and visitors alike. Virtually every corner of the city, from its beautiful parks to its busy recreational areas, makes it possible for Irvine to thrive as a metropolis in the modern world.
Since its opening in 1995, Irvine Spectrum has served as a popular entertainment center for both tourists and Irvine residents alike. Today, it attracts hundreds of visitors every day with its wide selection of restaurants, eateries, shopping stores, and outdoor attractions.
