Critters Can Be Cuddly But Not As Cute As Clay Creations

Whether it be for a birthday present, party favor or gift for the spring season, everyone needs a clay bunny to cherish during the year of the rabbit

Step 1: Mold one big clay ball for the body of the bunny, and two smaller balls for the ears with the same color (about 1/3 the size of the body). For the body, make sure it is flat on the bottom so it can stand by itself. (Brandon Foschetti)

 

Step 2: Mold two triangular clay ball from the smaller balls. Flatten a smaller ball of lighter color and press it onto the ear. Repeat this process for both ears and attach them on top of the bunny. Brandon Foschetti

 

Step 3: Mold two cylindrical clay balls (smaller than the ears) and attach
them to the body. Then, knead the bunny’s eyes with black clay and press them onto the head. As for the tail, simply attach a small ball to the back of the bunny. (Brandon Foschetti)

 

Step 4: Put a layer of baking sheet on a pan and bake the bunny at 255 degrees Fahrenheit for 10-15 minutes. Allow it to cool until hardened and apply the Sculpey glaze on the surface of the bunny with a paint brush. (Brandon Foschetti)

 

Optional Step: To make a keychain, pull the jump ring apart with two pliers and attach it on top of the bunny’s head. The open end of the jump ring should be facing up. You will add the keychain later. (Brandon Foschetti)

 

Carrot: Knead a small cone with orange clay for the carrot. Make two small balls of green clay and put them on top of the carrot. Finally, wrap one of the bunny’s arms around the carrot and reconnect the arm to its body. (Brandon Foschetti)

 

Step 4: Put a layer of baking sheet on a pan and bake the bunny at 255
degrees Fahrenheit for 10-15 minutes. Allow it to cool until hardened and
apply the Sculpey glaze on the surface of the bunny with a paint brush. (Brandon Foschetti)

 

Once dried, put one of the loops through the jump ring and close it with a plier to complete the keychain. (Brandon Foschetti)

Materials:
1. Minimum of three different colors of Sculpey polymer clay
2. Baking sheet
3. Jump ring and keychain (optional)
4. Two pairs of pliers (optional)
5. An oven and Sculpey glaze (optional).
