Are you looking for a one-of-a-kind club? The Guild of the Foil Line is like no other club on campus. Student-founded and student-led, this club has no set rules. It truly represents creativity at Woodbridge High.
What Is the Foil Line Club?
Like its unique name, many may wonder what the club entails. “The Guild of the Foil Line is dedicated to serve the interests of foil and foil kind,” President Ahmed said. In order to represent this interest, they engage in different competitions that are incentivized with unique prizes. These events and prizes serve to create a supportive community between club members where members can learn to work together and help each other. However, the winner is unaware of the unique objects they will receive.
“Every single component of this club is completely unique and original to the point where it is unimaginable and unpredictable,” Ahmed said.
Originally, when the club was first established, it was based on the idea of a guild where people could come together to exchange ideas. In terms of the foil component, members partake in the use of foil goods like foil hats. In summary, the club’s lack of a set purpose allows members to participate in a variety of activities spanning different themes.
Reflections on the Future and Past of the Club:
For all three board members, their goals for the club are similar: “Our main goal right now is to find successors that are going to carry on the club for next year after we graduate,” board member Anthony Lim said.
“One of our primary goals is finding a successor that is committed to the will of the foil line,” Ahmed said. Therefore, the club is in dire need of a successor to continue the traditions and events. They would like to be careful in finding this successor because they strongly encourage the values of creativity and need someone who is passionate but also has the time and resources to continue the club’s growth.
Beyond goals, the club board also reflects on their favorite moments during their time in the club: “One of my best moments was being re crowned monarch,” Ahmed said. “One moment that was pretty great was prosecuting one of the members in the club in an emergency trial,” both board members Anthony Lim and Casey Morgan stated.
As the club looks forward to the new year and incoming members, we can expect many more fun events, challenges, and even more unique prizes.
