Some believe that there are seven people who look exactly like you around the world, making them your doppelgangers. But what some people may not know, is that some of them walk among us in our daily lives at Woodbridge High.
Staff at Woodbridge High have shocking similarities to famous celebrities, especially English teacher Sabreena Beneville and Emmy Rossum, the lead actress from Shameless, and social science teacher Frank Harrington, who resembles Tom Hanks.
Students of Beneville were asked to name the resemblances of these two women. “I see the hair and the eyes. I think that their facial structure is also similar,” Isabelle Parker, sophomore at Woodbridge High, said.
A part that serves as an important aspect to their similarity is their complexion, specifically their dark hair and eyes. Both Rossum and Beneville share a unique appearance of fair skin and dark features, which is ultimately the main reason for why they look so much alike. Now although humans are extremely diverse in appearance, it is indeed possible to have similar genetic makeups.
Mutations could potentially occur in the same gene ultimately allowing similar traits to arise. Nucleotides contribute to the expression of the gene, so even if the two people are not related, they can still share close genetic variations. Their complexion isn’t the only thing that binds Beneville and Rossum together, however their smiles and characters are a factor too.
“The most unique thing about Mrs. Beneville is her bubbly personality,”Abi Fearn, sophomore at Woodbridge High said.
The combination between Beneville’s electric personality and smile is what makes up her character. This can essentially be compared to Rossum’s personality, which is kind and honest according to her peers. In the TV show, Shameless, Rossum plays the lead Fiona Gallagher, who is fiery and caring. She shares the trait of compassion with Beneville, essentially bonding their personalities even more. A doppelganger isn’t just a person who resembles you, it’s someone who is almost identical to you, whether it’s their appearance, mannerisms or personality.
Frank Harrington, history teacher at Woodbridge High has an astonishing resemblance to Tom Hanks as they share similar features. Harrington himself even explained how he had gotten recognized in another article about the same topic, just 10 years prior. Peers of Harrington emphasize how the smile and the nose of the two are what makes the resemblance so prominent. Also, students at Woodbridge share their views about this comparison.
“Their smiles and face structures are scarily alike, and I think that’s why they look so similar,” Vivian Kim, sophomore at Woodbridge High said.
As similarities between staff at Woodbridge High are recognized, students are encouraged to support and celebrate the diversity in their teachers. Being able to embrace each person’s uniqueness is extremely important in creating a strong school atmosphere.
