Many people enjoy the wide variety of juices available, but apple and orange juice are often the top choices. However, there is only one winner for the title of best juice, and that is orange juice.
Apple juice cannot compare to orange juice. With its vibrant color, orange juice is the perfect pairing for meals, especially breakfast. Many people prefer orange juice over apple juice because it’s rich in vitamins and has a delicious taste.
Sophomore Jett Watanabe enjoys orange juice over apple juice. “I pick orange juice a lot for cafeteria lunch… I think it’s a healthy choice… [and has] lots of vitamins,” Watanabe said. He chooses orange juice because it is a healthy option, packed with nutrients and its flavor dominates the overly sweet and bland taste of apple juice.
Apple juice often has an overly sweet, almost artificial taste along with a dull color that weakens the appeal of the juice. Some apple juices are so sweet that they taste like sugar water, a problem that orange juice does not face. Orange juice generally tastes less sweet and has a distinctive citrus flavor that is both refreshing and hydrating.
Freshman Josh Robertson opts for orange juice rather than apple juice. “I prefer orange juice because it is healthier and makes me feel energized…I drink orange juice about every other morning each week, and I think it is very healthy,” Robertson said. Orange juice helps him feel energized and gives the boost needed in the morning to start his day.
However, some people dislike orange juice due to its bitter taste and prefer apple juice for its sweeter flavor.
Sophomore Mona Ahara likes apple juice more because it tastes better. “I like apple juice better because it tastes…more sweet unlike orange juice [which] is more bitter and sour,” Ahara said. She likes apple juice better because it tastes sweeter compared to orange juice.
Despite orange juice having a more bitter taste, it is often freshly squeezed from natural oranges, which contributes to its flavor. This undermines the idea that orange juice has an unpleasant taste, as it has a more natural taste compared to apple juice, which can often taste artificial.
Additionally, according to experts at WebMD, “Orange juice is an excellent source of Vitamin C — one cup contains twice the daily recommended value…[it] supports your immune system and may be effective in fighting against the common cold.”
Orange juice is the superior juice, it takes the win for being the juice that arguably tastes the best and is great for your health.
