The Junior Varsity girls soccer team recalls their accomplishments and sets goals for their upcoming season. They strive to build a winning season and a stronger team.
The Junior Varsity girls soccer team has a very strong bond between their players. One of the athletes is mainly focussed on helping out her teammates on and off the field.
“One goal that I have set for myself is a little personal for me to say, but in general I want to be able to support my teammates. I think that’s all that matters sometimes and it’s really important. Just trying to become a more positive person and keep trying my best for myself and for my team,” freshman, Logan Rivera stated.
Even when the team is struggling, they still keep their heads up and support each other. “[…] we haven’t won many games or tournaments probably because it’s still preseason, but we still play pretty good together even when we’re losing,” junior, Michaela Sein stated. Rivera feels that even though they haven’t performed as well as they could, she’s still filled with joy while being around her teammates. “Even though we lost most of our games, at the end of the day it doesn’t matter because I’m filled up with the happiness that my team provides me with,” Rivera said.
After wrapping up their pre-season, the team has some expectations and is planning improvements for the rest of the season. There are still many more advances to be made, but an additional member of the team believes they will get there with the team backing each other up.
“[…] so far as wins wise we still need to improve in certain stuff to get there, but I believe our team will get there,” sophomore, Synda Hall said. Both Sein and Hall want to improve communication on the field.
“Something I want to improve on is communication because it’s definitely needed on the field […],” Sein stated. Hall pretty much agreed that communication is key to improving their performance as a whole.
The players on the team have some personal goals for the season. “I want to improve my speed honestly,” Rivera stated. Hall also mentioned a goal she has set for herself. “One goal I have set for myself during this season is to get my distribution on point,” Hall said.
Sein says she just wants to score goals and put in her best effort this season. “A goal I had set for myself was to score a goal and just play my hardest,” Sein stated. The players are also proud of some of their accomplishments so far. “I am most proud of my performance against Edison because that’s when I saved some goals, one with a header, and I was awarded player of the game,” Sein stated.
“So far in this season I’m proud that I see improvements in certain stuff I used to struggle with in last season,” Hall stated.
Finally, some important information to know about the team is where and when they play! Their home games are right across the street from Woodbridge High at Mark Daily Athletic Field.
