St. Paul City Council
For the first time in history, an all female city-council was elected to Saint Paul, Minnesota.
“[The council] lifts up the progressive values of our community and is committed to doing difficult work together in a way that is sustainable and will really make lasting change,” President of the Council Mitra Jalali said. Six out of the seven women are women of color, each from a diverse background. Inspiring the various major ethnic, religious and ranging age groups in the city, the St. Paul council celebrates their multicultural and multifaith identities and better represents the greater population they serve. Together, they aim to fight against environmental challenges and implement public safety interventions that use police officers and more.
Paris Olympics
This year’s Paris Olympics had fan-favorite moments and historic breakthroughs. Two Caribbean islands, Dominica and St. Lucia, captured their first Olympic medals and Cabo Verde won a bronze in boxing thanks to David de Pina. For the first time, the men’s and women’s triathlons had their first swims in the river Seine. As for the U.S. gymnastics team, icon Simone Biles led the team to victory, with new star Suni Lee, becoming the first-ever Hmong-American Olympian and Asian American woman to win the Olympic all-around title.

Victoria’s Secret
This year, Victoria’s Secret (VS) has embraced a new era, celebrating a more diverse lineup and an inclusive take on modern beauty standards. The show made a statement on empowerment and authenticity with a diverse cast of all body types, ages and backgrounds. Alex Consani was the first openly transgender model in Victoria Secret’s VS history, symbolizing this shift. Looking to the future, VS stores are implementing more body-positive mannequins, aiming to be inclusive of all.
Israel and Palestine
In October of 2023, the Palestinian-based terrorist group Hamas attacked Israel, marking the start of the current conflict between Israel and Palestine. In November 2024, the United Nations proposed a ceasefire, but the United States vetoed it and primarily supported Israel to help defend itself against Hamas. The U.S. also made efforts to provide aid to Palestinians. Now in 2025, there are efforts to implement a ceasefire.

Aidan Antonio set a school record with the fastest three-mile time among the 2027 class.
Meanwhile, Mock Trial has been on a winning streak.
“We won our first four preliminary rounds and then our first playoff round. [When we saw those results this year], we were all jumping up and hugging,” senior and Mock Trial captain Haley Ferguson shared,
Students in the Visual Arts and Performing Arts program also traveled to Florida.
“We [got to take] class with some professional cast members and got to experience what it’s like putting on a show. The next day we got to perform, [a parade] around Disney. We had such a blast and I will truly never forget the experience,” dance co-captain Lila Gray said.
Abilities Awareness Week
Woodbridge High held its first Abilities Awareness Week, teaching students about different disabilities and how to become an ally for students with disabilities. This gave students without disabilities a chance to learn how to approach the topic with respect, sensitivity and curiosity rather than with judgment. This event contributed to creating a safer, more inclusive and uplifting school climate. A highlight from the week was a video played during homeroom, consisting of student volunteers who had disabilities sharing their experiences.
Intercultural Week
Woodbridge High held its first Intercultural week in partnership with the University of California, Irvine School of Social Sciences. Special Education Instructional assistant and Diversity Inclusion Racial Healing Program, (DIRHA).
“[It was] an opportunity for students to share [about their cultures] as well as an opportunity for students to learn about cultures that are different from their own. I’m very proud that we opened this and [overall], this week allows for cultural exchange and curiosity,” Liaison Maka said.
Homecoming
Each year, Woodbridge High selects students for Homecoming Court.
“I opened my phone and it [said that] you’re nominated. [I thought it was cool for
senior year]. I got ready with my mom [because that night I just wanted to spend time with her]. She was the one who escorted me down for the court. I loved that I spent
that night with her ’cause you know, we’re seniors, [we don’t] have [much] more time
at home,” Homecoming nominee, Ferguson, said.
