Boys basketball takes positives from defeat
Basketball (1-3) lost its non-league game against Saddleback Valley Christian High on Dec. 6 by a close margin 51-55. The team was not able to get a lead during the final quarter, leading to the loss.
“We’ve gained some real valuable experience. We were playing against top fly competition,” coach John Halagan said.
The team has struggled throughout the non-league season, but has played games against top teams such as Orange Lutheran High and San Clemente High. Playing at such a high level has given the team experience against top schools in the county.
“I think it is a great opportunity for our team early in the season. Playing better competition helps us prepare for league games and hopefully CIF,” senior and guard Ryan Taylor said.
Coming from a two-game losing streak against San Clemente High and Saddleback Valley Christian High, the team plans to do its best to improve on being able to score and have everyone ready for the next game.
The next game is against Foothill High on Tuesday. Ultimately, the team aims to put an effort in league season to add another banner in its collection.
