Disneyland will celebrate its 60th anniversary with spectacular new attractions
Disneyland park will transform for its 60th anniversary celebration, known as the Disneyland Resort Diamond Celebration, on May 22, with the addition of many new, specially-renovated attractions and events in the park for the occasion.
The main additions for the celebration, which is to include a 60-hour kickoff party, will be three colorful nighttime shows. World of Color, the late-night light and water show at California Adventure, will be updated to include a “Celebrate” addition to present Walt Disney’s story and dream for Disneyland.
Disneyland Forever is an updated fireworks show that will have new music, feature new films such as “Peter Pan” and include a technique called projection mapping that will be incorporated throughout the park. Project mapping is the technique of projecting images onto buildings and has been used before by the parks on the “It’s A Small World” ride and the Sleeping Beauty castle, according to the LA Times.
The last and perhaps newest addition for the 60th anniversary is the Disney Paint the Night Parade, inspired by a similar event held in Disneyland Hong Kong. It is a spectacular light show parade that features detailed floats of familiar and beloved Disney characters.
At California Adventure, Diamond Mad T Party will be held at night in Hollywood Land. The Mad T Party includes a band playing rock music; the musicians will be dressed as characters inspired by “Alice in Wonderland.” California Adventure guests can listen to the music, play interactive games and buy speciality beverages.
All information and pictures of the events will be posted under the hashtag #Disneyland60 on social media platforms including Facebook, Twitter and Instagram.
