Many talented pop artists have chosen to take a leave of absence

 

One Direction:

The famous British boy band announced it would take a year-long break from making music back in 2015. The band’s last album, “Made in the A.M.,” was a success, according to Rolling Stone magazine. Fans were heartbroken and disappointed when the band broke the news last August.

Earlier that year, band member Zayn Malik quit before his contract ended and was not included in the latest album.

 

Ed Sheeran:

According to MTV, solo artist Ed Sheeran, announced he wants to take a break from not just fame but also reality which he started back in January.

“My plan is to get rid of my iPhone, get rid of Internet, get a Nokia 3310 and just go off into the wilderness somewhere for a bit,” Sheeran said in an interview with MTV, “even if it’s just a month without contact with other people.”

It is still not clear when he will to return to making music, but for now he seems to want some alone time.

 

Taylor Swift:

American singer-songwriter Taylor Swift announced her break back in November. She is not sure yet how long she will be gone for or what she will do in the meantime.

“I think I should take some time off,” Swift said in an interview with New Musical Express. “I think people might need a break from me. I’m going to… I don’t know. Hang out with my friends. Write new music. Maybe not write new music.”

The last album she released was “1989” followed by her world tour. She chose to stop making music right after she ended her tour in December.
