Avengers: Endgame
On April 26, Marvel Studios released its 22nd movie nearly ending the fourth phase of the Marvel Universe. Avengers Endgame takes place after the events of (Infinity War) which came out in 2018. The original Avengers, starring Robert Downey Jr., Scarlett Johansson, Chris Hemsworth and Chris Evans, are in grief after being defeated by Thanos, who wiped out half of the entire universe with the power of the Infinity Stones. With different allies such as Rocket Racoon and Nebula, they come together to bring back those who Thanos snapped away once and for all. (Endgame) became one of the biggest blockbusters, surpassing the sci-fi movie,(Avatar), which was the highest grossing film in the movie industry for 10 years, by more than 500,000 dollars.
Lion King
Disney takes on a live action version of 1994’s (The Lion King) starring Donald Glover, Beyonce Knowles, Seth Rogan and many more. This Disney remake was released in theaters on July 19 hitting box office weekend with $1 billion. Simba takes to heart his royal role at Pride Rock where he and his father, King Mufasa, look over the animal kingdom. Scar, Mufasa’s brother, has plans to take over the position as king before Simba does. With betrayal, drama and tragedy, the fight for Pride Rock ends. Simba meets new friends,a warthog known as Pumba and Timon the meerkat, on this journey of growing up and finds a way to earn his place back into not only his kingdom but into his family.
Yesterday
(Yesterday) takes place in an English seaside town with a struggling singer-songwriter, Jack Malik, who has dreams of fame one day. The comedy romance movie starring Himesh Patel and Lily James was released on June 28. A mysterious global blackout erases the existence of the legendary band, The Beatles. Jack takes the songs the band had written/sung and turns it into his own discography. One day he’s absolutely no body, the next Jack is a world wide super songwriter. The world believes he created all his top hits from scratch which propels him to fame overnight. As he enjoys the fame he has, consequences start to pop up that could possibly cause a downfall in his career.
