Trees are changing color and the days are getting shorter. As the fall season approaches with the promise of warm sweaters, restaurants are coming back with their seasonal menus only here for a limited time. Sunmerry Bakery, Tastea and Ruby’s Diner are all affordable, close-by and mouth-watering eateries that will leave you wanting more. Get your fall festivities started with these must-visit places.


Sunmerry Bakery, a local bakery located in the Arbor Village Shopping Center, recently released its limited-edition seasonal menu that began in October. In collaboration with fresh pumpkins from Tanaka Farms, the bakery produces a daily batch of their fall specialties. Only available in their Irvine branch, the Pumpkin Whole Wheat pastry is a homemade soft bread with smooth pumpkin filling topped with pumpkin seeds. Paired well with their various teas, the bread is enormously popular and is usually sold-out by closing time. Other seasonal pastries include the Pumpkin Brownie, which is great for people with a sweet tooth.

Tastea, a beverage store situated in the Crossroads Shopping Center, has a variety of new drinks ready for the fall season. The Pumpkin Milk Tea is one of their signature iced fall drinks topped with cream cheese foam and nutmeg. The drink is perfect for an after school treat or an energizer to mornings. The store also offers the Pumpkin Coffee for their coffee enthusiasts and Hot Pumpkin Milk Tea for colder days.

Ruby’s Diner, a restaurant in the Woodbridge Village Center, came back with their fall menu recently. The Pumpkin Delight Shake is a pumpkin spice shake made with real ingredients and finished with a decorative candy corn on top of rich whipped cream. Only available until Nov. 26, the shake goes well with their Pumpkin Hot Cakes or Pumpkin Waffle-a great way to begin late start Mondays. In addition, Ruby’s has a Thanksgiving menu featuring the Thanksgiving Turkey Burger, Deluxe Grilled Cheese, Fall Melody Soup and Turkey Arrabiata Ciabatta.
